Theater workshop for students of NMIMS Kirit P Mehta School of Law Mumbai Campus
Oct 12th, 13th and 16th 2018
The workshop would initiate the participants with opening up their bodies through basic stretching movements and other kinds of exercises borrowed from different performance genres.
It will next make the participants aware of the different physical and vocal capacities that we possess that we are often unaware of because of the lack of their use. Leading to the opening up of that aspect of our selves which is primary to performing.
Finally the participants would learn to use these faculties to create short narratives on stage and use them to the benefit of collective work which is the fundamental nature of theatre.'

Act...Now Re-enact funded by Asia Art Archive-Inlaks
26th June - 4th July 2018
Venue: Company Theater Workspace, Kamshet
The residency-workshop has been designed to bring on floor the archival material and the theoretical engagement that I and Ashutosh Potdar, the dramaturg of the project have had through this project funded by AAA-Inlaks Art Grant 2017-18. In this residency the idea is to work with performers that becomes an iteration of the archival material. These iterations I have called 'scores'. A collection of 'scores' in the future would allow us to envision a 'complete' staged narrative. Hence they will become a 're-enacting' of the material life of the archive that we are engaging with, mainly the colonial theatre of Bengal and Bombay Presidency.

Filmmaking for theatre is a middle ground, a space of intersection, a world suspended between different languages, aims and rules, between art and documentation, technological and artistic work. That’s the “land” we will investigate in a one day practical workshop. Participants will have the chance to work on a small task as filmmakers, from the beginning to the end of the process.
The aim is to have an overview and to discover the basic rules of filming theatre/live performance.
Topics:
1. Shooting movement: The actor and the camera in a theatrical performance. Relationship with examples
2. Editing: how to cut and why. To follow and break the rules.
3. Live performance shooting: What is alive? Discussion with participants.
The workshop would end with a discussion with the participants.
The workshop is for students, artists and film makers interested in the techniques of filming within the context of live performances.
Participants are requested to get their own camera and laptop. Editing Software to be used is Premiere Pro CC 2017/2018.

About the workshop:
Filmmaking for theatre is a middle ground, a space of intersection, a world suspended between different languages, aims and rules, between art and documentation, technological and artistic work. That’s the “land” we will investigate in this 3-day workshop on practical work and reflection. The workshop is for artists, film makers and theatre practitioners interested in the techniques of producing videos of their performances and in developing their experience by confronting the particular situation of filming a theatre/live performance.
